Weddings…..a little chat about wedding budgets and flowers…..Given the financial uncertainty we face at the moment, it is understandable that you want to get the most you possibly can from your hard earned pounds when planning your wedding flowers.

I’m really good at helping couples make the most of their wedding flower budget so if you are feeling daunted by the cost of wedding flowers, we can chat about how to spend wisely and I quite understand it can be tricky.

My two main tips would be:

1). Work out your budget and stick to it

2). Re-purpose as many of the flowers during your wedding day as you can.

Some examples of this could be using your bridesmaid posies as table flowers, or to decorate the bar area. We can make sure there are some vessels ready and waiting for your bridesmaids to pop their flowers bouquets into. If you’re ordering bouquets and buckets, the bouquets will come in glass jars so all you have to do is delegate someone to bring the jars to the venue for you. This is especially worthwhile if you have a lot of bridesmaids or flowergirls!

You can use ceremony flowers in a big vase/jar as top table flowers. If you have a big vase, it can stand by the table as a statement piece, or on the bar if there is space. If you have an arrangement on the registrar’s table in the style of a meadow, this is perfect for slotting into a top table arrangement.

Foliage garlands can be reused in the same way.

There are different ways of using your budget, for instance instead of having little bunches of flowers or foliage as pew ends or tied to the rows of ceremony chairs, you could put the money into having a large ceremony vase. This is a large vase or jar that can be used near the registrar’s table, in photos and on or beside the top table.

You might consider providing your bridesmaids with wrist corsages instead of bouquets- tied with an elegant ribbon. I can image a three (or more!) musketeers style photo opportunity with your arms raised and your hands together!

Some couples might prefer to put the majority of the flower budget into having a dramatic gesture – an indoor arch or arbour for instance- perfect for photo opportunities for the newly weds and also for guest selfies later on…..

At the end of your wedding celebrations you can give your guests handfuls of flowers to take home as a memento. You could be really organised and have some bags and jars waiting to put them in, with a tag with the date and your names on. Wedding favours with a difference.

Do get in in touch if you would like to have a chat about anything I’ve mentioned here, or wedding flowers in general.

Always happy to talk about wedding flowers!
