In June, there is lots more happening in the flower patch. Overwintered annuals are flowering, as are spring sown annuals.

Sweet Peas, roses, love in a mist (Nigella) are all starting to flower. Here are some of the flowers around in June in Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria:

Alliums (also can be purples, blues, pinks)
Clary Sage (Salvia Horminum)
Ammi, for the floaty look
Perennial Scabious, loved by bees
Calendula – this one is “Snow Princess”; Calendula also comes in orange and buff colours too
Lady’s Mantel, a wonderful lime green filler
Cornflowers – blue, purples, nearly black, shades of pink, red and white too.
Annual Phlox Alba – perfect for white weddings
Poppies; not just yellow, red and orange these days!
Sweet William Alba
Traditional Sweet Williams in mixed colours
