Flower Subscription

Clodhopper Blooms’ Fantastic Flower Friends (AKA Flower Subscriptions but with extra appreciation of your support!)

Would you like to be a Clodhopper Blooms’ fantastic flower friend and receive a bouquet of British Grown seasonal flowers every month for 3 months? If so, (or even “well, maybe”) read on….

I’m Frances, (in case you don’t know) and I grow seasonal flowers just outside Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. (Have a browse of this website for details and photos!) . As a general guide, my flowers are available between late March and the end of October. If you live within 10 miles of Kirkby Stephen, you’ll qualify for local delivery

For 2025, I’m offering locally delivered flower subscriptions that will run in 3 month blocks, to people who live within ten miles of Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.

How it works:

You’ll receive a wrapped bouquet of flowers on a Tuesday afternoon/early evening, that I can leave in water for you outside your door if you’re not around. With your consent, if I don’t see you, I’ll drop you a text to remind you that your flowers have been delivered.

When does it start?

The first round of subscriptions I plan to start in late March 2025. You will receive a message to tell you exactly when; but the flowers are dependent on the type of weather/spring we have as to when they start flowering properly.

Spring will cover March, April, May

Summer will cover June, July, August,

Autumn will cover September, October (TBC)

Summer and Autumn details will be released nearer the time, and if you sign up to my newsletter you’ll be amongst the first to hear!

Details:

A bonus of being a Fantastic Flower Friend is that you get more flowers than you would if you bought a one off bouquet, as I don’t have to spend time on extra packaging!

Gift a bouquet to a local friend….If you know you’re going to be away for a delivery, get in touch and I’ll deliver your bouquet to a local friend of your choosing instead.

You could also sign up to the subscriptions and give each bouquet away as presents – that’s three birthdays sorted!

If you sign up for the Spring round, I’ll give you a £5 off voucher for a future 3 month subscription too.

Gift a subscription

Let me know in the check out process if you’re buying the subscription as a gift and if you would like me to send a card to the recipient letting them know they’re going to receive flowers.

Why do I offer Flower Subscriptions?

What’s in it for you? Look forward to a monthly treat, admire the beauty of flowers, and connect with the seasons as the flowers and foliage change over the 3 months. Experience the variety of flowers we can grow in the UK, and bring a little bit of the freshness and calm of the garden into your home. You can also gift your bouquet to a local friend if you’re away, so no flowers go to waste.  Or, gift them as presents, take them with you when you visit friends and family, leave them on the grave of a loved one. You might want to use them as part of an art practice, a lovely excuse to sit down to paint or draw.

What’s in it for me? It helps me plan for the season, guides my decision making as to what I need to grow and how much of it; obviously the money helps too! I love knowing that the flowers bring people happiness.

What’s in it for all the other things we care so much about? The insects get plenty of flowers to explore, I create habitats for winter hibernation, support healthy soil for all the invisible but so important life, birds, small mammals (including the red squirrels) get places to nest and forage. Flowers are grown without the use of peat, and without pesticides and insecticides. Areas of long grass are provided for habitats, and I always feed the birds!

To give you an idea of when you might expect your first flower delivery, I’d thought I’d share my notes from previous years:

2024 – 22nd March narcissi flowering, 7th April tulips started, also double narcissi, flowering currant, hyacinth, wall flowers.

2023 – 17th March, first narcissi flowering, foliage and red twigs from lime hedge

2nd April more choice of narcissi

18th April – tulips starting, and more narcissi (doubles) open

28th April – full tulips

2022 –  17th March first daffs (yellow), wall flowers, 18th April parrot tulips out, 26th April all tulips out, full spring flowers 3rd May.

As always, email me frances@clodhopperblooms.co.uk if you have questions!
