How can wedding calligraphy be integrated into your wedding colour palette?
When you’re dreaming up your colour scheme for your wedding, you might think of flowers, bridesmaid dresses, table runners and of course the first part, the invitations and save the date cards you send out.
It’s easy to see how flowers can set a colour palette, but maybe less obvious how the little details can enhance the colours you choose. These little details can include wedding favours, place cards, signs, candles and table runners.
You’ll find plenty of inspo on Pinterest for things like tablescapes, using candles and table runners but there’s less out there for place cards and signs so I thought I’d run through a few ideas for you here.
Place cards, table numbers and small signs can be made out of coloured cardstock that can tone in or compliment the colours you’ve chosen. The ink that these are written in, can pick out details. For example, I write all my items by hand, using ink and a dip pen, so I can actually mix the ink to the colours to go with your colour palette. Or we can choose an off the shelf ink that suits; there’s a lot to choose from! You might have a palette of pale pink, creams, with gold details; this translates beautifully into pink cardstock, and gold ink.
If you’re having a more informal celebration and don’t want place names, but do want to give your guests memorable wedding favours, you might think about having a puzzle purse designed for you, again, in the right colours.
Small coloured details can be added. For a bright festival feel to your wedding you might choose place cards and table numbers decorated with origami butterflies in an assortment of bright pink, orange, blue with the writing in white ink on orange cardstock.
For a clean and crisp look you could have white cardstock, gold writing, and a touch of colour with an origami bird detail on each place card and table number. The same can be applied to signs (dessert tables, signature cocktails, welcome sign, etc).
